Three Courthouses, One view!
Seaboard, MacArthur, and Today: If you stand corner of Plume Street and Atlantic Street, in front of the Seaboard Building of Slover Library, you get a unique vision of Norfolk's history; three different courthouses in one view. The Seaboard building was originally built as a post office and federal courthouse in 1900.
From there, one can see the MacArthur Memorial, originally built as Norfolk City Hall and Courthouse 1847. Straight down Plume Street, one can see the newest addition to Norfolk's courthouse collection, built in 2015.
This tour will explore their different designs, purposes, and roles they played in shaping this historic city.
Meet in front of Slover Library for this hour-long walking tour through Downtown Norfolk.
