With help from the Program for Improving Capacity and Capability (PICC) Grant, the d'Art Center is able to bring back free programming for our community, but we need your help to gather information required by the grant to meet our goal in Connecting the Community with the Visual Arts. Before the activity begins, attendees will be asked to fill out a Participation Card that includes questions such as age range, zip code, etc.
In this workshop led by d'Art Artist, Ken Wright, students will be painting from reality to the abstract form. See the Movement. Hear the Melody, and Feel the Emotion. Students will learn to see the image and use their imagination in creating the art piece. It will be a fun experience of seeing and painting the abstract form in realism.
Location: Main Classroom at d'Art Center on 740 Boush Street in Norfolk, VA
Ages: All ages 8+*
*Children must be accompanied by an adult.
This workshop is free and open to the public, however, please RSVP using the button above. Walk-ins can be accommodated, but supplies are limited.

About the Artist:
A Richmond, VA native, and graduate of Norfolk State University with a BFA in graphics and fine arts. Ken is an abstract painter using acrylics on canvas or museum board. He is a former arts comissioner for the State of Virginia, and has served on many arts boards. He has won over 300 awards and honors for his work. Ken’s art is in many collections all over the United States and abroad. Among the collectors of his work are President George W.Bush, and President Barack Obama, which both hung in the White House. Other collectors to name a few are former Ambassador to Liberia West Africa, Bismark Myrick; movie actress Eartha Kitt (deceased), and actress Tatiana Ali. His work has been exhibited in the office of U.S. Senator Mark Warner on Capital Hill, Washington, D.C.
This workshop is free and open to the public, but your RSVP gives us an idea on what to expect! We accept walk-ins and RSVPs, but all spaces are first come, first serve - an RSVP does not guarantee your space. Please arrive on time.
