The Filipino American National Historical Society-Hampton Roads (FANS-HR) Chapter and Tidewater Community College (TCC) welcome the public to their moderated panel in conjunction with Filipino American History Month on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 5:30pm-7pm. The event will be held at TCC Norfolk's Student Center on the 5th Floor, located at 310 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23510.
The theme of the program is "Identity, Belonging and Self Determination for Filipinos in Hampton Roads."
Panelists include:
Rowena Finn, Educator at the Governor's School for the Arts in Norfolk;
Ray Obispo, Virginia Beach Public Schools Educator;
Veronica Salcedo, Virginia Beach Public Schools Educator;
Slyvia Nery Strickland, who retired from the Department of Defense;
Mary Joy Leona Guillory, TCC Student
Jeffrey Acosta, Adjunct Professor at TCC and Retired U.S. Marine Corps Officer.
For those who wish to attend the program in person (there will be plenty of seating), the program will be held in the TCC Norfolk campus, Student Center, 5th Floor, located at 310 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23510. The program will begin at 5:30 PM and end at 7 PM. Metered parking is available on Granby Street and low-cost parking is available in the North Parking Garage of the MacArthur Mall. A Google search should also show additional parking areas near the TCC Norfolk campus.
