On Wednesday, February 19th, 2025, the MacArthur Memorial will host a screening of the John Wayne 1949 classic, Sands of Iwo Jima. This screening is presented in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. Dr. Tim Orr, Associate Professor of History at Old Dominion University, will introduce the film and discuss the tension between "real" history and "reel" history.
