Norfolk Nautical
Category: Public Art
Address
724 Granby Street
Norfolk, VA 23510
Details
Norfolk Nautical is inspired by mermaids, Norfolk's naval history, the Chesapeake Bay, the Norfolk Southern Railway, the colonial years of Virginia County, and the vibrancy of the NEON District. The collaboration is a fusion of artists, Chris Soria and Misha Tyutyunik, whose techniques and styles are both distinct and harmonious, making the mural a rare duet of brush strokes, spray paint, tessellation, and subtraction reminiscent of The Cut-Outs by Henri Matisse.
