Great America XVII: Remember the Honored Fallen
Category: Public Art
Address
132 W. Olney Road
Norfolk, VA 23510
Details
Great America XVII is a simple and reverent tribute to the sacrifice of the men and women in the United States military and their families. The figures are shown with little beyond their branch and service decoration. Muralist Sam Welty depicted the soldiers from the neck down to allow the viewer to visualize the soldier as a friend, family, and or even themselves as someone who sacrifices themselves for others.
