Eat Your Heart Out at Restaurant Week
Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week is back to showcase the best of Downtown Norfolk’s dining scene and to support our Downtown restaurants. From July 16-23, 2023, enjoy delicious deals from 23 participating restaurants offering price-fixed, multi-course dinners for $35 or $45, and lunch or brunch for $15. Reservations are recommended.
It's fare game during Restaurant Week, so we recommend perusing the menus ahead of time to see which places or items you don't want to miss. Plus, it's always a good idea to do a little "meal prepping" by planning out your own courses. May we make a few suggestions?
First Course
Starters, shareables, snacks - get your meal started off on the right foot with delicious appetizers, or dig right into $15 brunch options. Doesn't caramelized Bananas Foster and toasted challah French Toast with powdered sugar and walnuts from Cafe Milo sound mouthwatering? Or if a savory brunch is more your thing, especially after a late night out, head to Prime 255 on Granby for "The Hangover," your choice of an Angus patty or fried chicken breast, with fried egg, bacon, and gouda on a brioche bun, complete with french fries.
If you're not a morning person and the $15 lunch options are calling your name, then Freemason Abbey's Shrimp Scampi or Chicken Picatta, along with your choice of salad or homemade Apricot Brandy Bread Pudding, could be right up your alley. Cafe Milo's fried chicken Bang Bang Banh Mi packs a little sweet heat with chili honey mayo, or elevate your Restaurant Week lunch experience with soup or salad and Grace O'Malley's Cottage Pie, made with minced beef, peas, carrots, and onions in a homemade Guinness brown gravy, topped with mashed potatoes. Doesn't that sound a-peel-ing?
Second Course
Feast your eyes on the $35 dinner and $45 dinner options. Restaurant Week is about trying new foods, so expand your palette with Saffron Indian Bistro's Veg Samosa as an appetizer, and Tandoori Chicken or Fish Tikka for your entree. Free smells extend beyond that orange door on Granby Street, where Codex boasts an extensive $45 Restaurant Week menu, with first course offerings such as house-made Pimiento Cheese or Prosciutto and Spring Onion Tart, and mains including juicy Charcoal Chicken. Another option is to catch a bite of Tuna Tartare and Pan Seared Grouper from Omar's Carriage House.
Third Course
Save room for dessert and go for a rich Bailey's Chocolate Mousse from 219 Bistro, try the summery Watermelon Panna Cotta from Glass Light Hotel & Gallery, or set sail with City Cruise's $45 dinner that includes a signature dessert station, offering a Baked Peach Berry Crisp. We're certainly berry hungry now.
Options for Vegetarians and Vegans
We know finding vegetarian and vegan options at your favorite restaurants can be tricky, but there are plenty of options in Downtown Norfolk. Stockpot delivers one of several meat-free Restaurant Week options with their vegan "All Rye, All Rye" Vegan Patty Melt $15 lunch, featuring a plant-based patty, vegan cheese, caramelized onion, and aioli on rye bread, served with chips.
