Presented by Virginia Arts Festival. It is thrilling to hear this legendary orchestra, deemed by many a national treasure and beloved by audiences the world around. It was even more of a thrill in 2023, when they joined the Virginia Arts Festival in creating a residency and adjudicated competition for jazz ensembles from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. To hear these inspired young musicians perform alongside these seasoned jazz stars was an extraordinary experience. Now, a new roster of HBCU bands will join Marsalis and the Orchestra for an experience they will long remember—and you will too.
