The first annual Hampton Roads Datathon comes to Slover Library on September 9 with a virtual kickoff! The theme is "Analyzing, Promoting, and Protecting Biodiversity in Hampton Roads."

An in-person presentation review will be held on September 16 at Slover Library in Norfolk, Virginia. Meet like-minded individuals while sharpening your data skills in a fun and service-driven environment. This event is open to municipalities, universities, non-profit organizations, and residents.

Here's how it works:

- Teams of two to six will compete to create the most useful project or analysis based on the theme. Single participants may join the competition and will be matched with a team. Please provide team member names when registering.

- Virtual kick-off begins on Friday, September 9. Teams will have one week to work on their presentation. Experts will be available to answer questions.

- On Friday, September 16, teams will meet at Slover Library for an all-day event including networking, project presentations, and an awards ceremony with prizes.

- Food will be provided!

- Judges will award first, second, and third place winners!
